Paris

After a VERY long night in a sleeper train from Milan, we arrived in Paris. How beautiful it is... but also freezing this time of year. After dropping off our packs we went and bought some pastries (of course! We're in France!) and ate them as we gazed at Notre Dam. That is one heck of a building. After eating breakfast and wandering around for a bit we were freezing and tired after not a lot of sleep on the "sleeper" train. We had a three hour nap and then hit the town once again. We did a tour of Notre Dam and learned about the history of that building, saw a WWII memorial, saw several other sights around Notre Dam.

Our second day was our official "sight-seeing" day. First thing in the morning we went to the Louvre. I think you need approximately 5 days and a tour guide to get through that whole museum. It was a little overwhelming, but so beautiful. After around four hours we were completely cultured out and headed through the palace gardens. They were immense to say the least. The garden led straight to the Champs Elysees which took us to the Arc du Triomphe. It was fun to just sit and watch the cars almost kill one another. We then headed to the EIFFEL TOWER. Pretty rad... and tall... very tall. After all that walking and learning we were tired and went home to bed.

Last day in Paris we ate the most famous eclair in Paris (thus the world), saw the Pantheon, saw a palace, ate the eclairs, saw a church, almost froze to death, got more eclairs for lunch, slept and then hit Paris at night! It was rad! Paris is a completely different city at night. We timed it just right so that we were on top of the Eiffel tower as the sun set and we saw the monuments light up. After we got down from the top of the tower we watched it sparkle and then went to the Arc du Triomphe, the Louvre, and Notre Dam to see them all lit up. It was a beautiful evening and the perfect way to end our trip in Paris.
